Darren Hinton was born and raised in Madera, California and earned a bachelor's degree in history and a master's degree in public administration, both from BYU. He served as a missionary in the Sweden, Stockholm mission and has worked at BYU since 2009 in facilities, student conduct, and is currently the Director of the Student Connection and Leadership Center.
Darren and his wife Liz have 3 daughters and a son, all of whom keep them busy with sports, music, and various other activities. Darren’s great loves outside of his family and the Gospel are history and sports. He loves reading about historical events and figures and continues the tradition he inherited from his father of visiting historical sites on road trips whenever possible. He has been to a game at every current Major League Baseball stadium as well as 10 others that are no longer in use. He played baseball and water polo in high school and currently plays golf, tennis/pickleball, and whatever sport is currently in-season for the kids. Darren and his family live in Orem.
