The Black Student Union (BSU) was started in 1987 and continues to be one of the premier clubs and organizations of Brigham Young University. One of the primary objectives is to promote an inclusive environment where thoughts, ideas, adn experiences are shared and expressed. The BSU logo, the Gye Nyame (pronounced Jye Nee-ah-may) intertwines the Y to symbolize a collective effort to strengthen our faith, to appreciate our culture, and to understand our heritage and legacy. The Gye Nyame is an African symbol from Ghana that denotes God's supremacy and His importance in our lives. BSU strongly endorses the mission of Brigham Young University and invites all to join the quest as we seek to understnad our past, embrace the present, and prepare for the future. BSU is excited and committed to sponsor activities of learning, service, and fun. BSU is a student-led organization supported by BYU and activities are open to all students, faculty, and staff as well as to members of the community. We need you to join us and together we can enjoy activities of learning, service, and fun.
